1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no connection to a city, state, or federal office. It does not keep official criminal files, perform official checks, retrieve records, or submit documents for a visitor.

Its role is to identify custodians such as NNPD, the Newport News Sheriff, local courts, Virginia State Police CARE and CCRE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Some pages also connect to independent research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the website is conditioned on an agreement not to:

• Use the content in violation of federal, Virginia, or local law
• Harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate another person
• Use site material for hiring, housing, lending, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision
• Attempt unauthorized access to any account, server, or system
• Deploy scraping, bot, or automated collection tools against the pages
• Interfere with performance or prevent others from using the service

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information found here or through a linked tool may not be used to harass, stalk, intimidate, threaten, or discriminate. Virginia gives the Registry a public-safety purpose. Under Va. Code § 9.1-918, willful misuse of Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry data can be a Class 1 misdemeanor. Vigilantism and discriminatory use are prohibited.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create a background check, credit report, or consumer report. The site and its advertising partners are not offered for applicant screening, rental review, insurance rating, or credit judgments. Data from any page or linked tool may not be used to:

• Decide whether to hire or fire someone
• Screen potential renters or housing applicants
• Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
• Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
• Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

A check for a regulated purpose must use a legally authorized official route or an FCRA-compliant consumer reporting agency. Virginia State Police restricts its own processes by consent and statutory purpose.

5. No Legal Advice

Published explanations are general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed Virginia attorney can advise how a charge, conviction, warrant, sealing law, or expungement rule applies to a particular situation.

6. No Warranties

All material and functions are provided "as is." No warranty is made that:

• The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
• The site will stay up and running without interruptions
• Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
• Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Charges, dispositions, custody, warrants, sealing, and expungement can change the current record. Gaps and delay are unavoidable. No statement here replaces a record issued by NNPD, the Sheriff, a clerk, or a Virginia agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to government offices, courts, legal resources, and private services that operate independently. We do not control a destination's content, privacy practice, price, accuracy, or availability. Its own terms should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Newport News Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, distributed, adapted, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the greatest extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for damages arising from use of the website, its content, or any linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the site or a breach of these terms, including associated legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. Any proceeding connected with website use must be brought in a court located in Virginia, subject to applicable jurisdiction rules.

12. Changes to These Terms

These conditions may be revised. A new version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

14. Severability
